I’m no couch potato

Ever since I got wireless internet access in my house 2+ years ago, I rarely watch TV anymore. I carry my laptop around my house, to do work, read the news, search for lots of useless information, shop online, play mp3s or watch DVDs.

Being forced to sit stationary in front of the TV makes me feel like I’m in time-out.

I even broke my laptop once because I fell asleep with it on my chest … in bed. I woke up and it was on the floor, painted with the “blue screen of death.”

One of my co-workers at ctnow.com is a reality TV junkie, and I never have any idea what show she is talking about. So, what do I do? No, I don’t make time to watch the show.

I read about the TV show after I look it up on the Internet.

I’m definitely what you would call a “Mouse Potato.”

The dictionary added the phrase “Mouse Potato” this year:

Main Entry: mouse potato
Function: noun
Etymology: after couch potato
slang : a person who spends a great deal of time using a computer.

Is it a sickness? Do I need therapy?

  2. ‘Mouse Potato’ – I love that! I can waste so much time just following one link to the next, and usually forgetting what got me there in the first place! Hmm… maybe it’s having a negative effect on my short term memory!
